The World Day for Safety and Health at Work has been observed since 2003, when the International Labour Organization (ILO), sought to stress on prevention of accidents and diseases at work, capitalizing on its traditional strengths of tripartism and social dialogue.
This celebration is also an essential part of the ILO’s Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health. One of the main pillars of the Global Strategy is advocacy, and the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an important tool to raise awareness on how to make work safe and healthy, and to raise the political profile of occupational safety and health.
