While weddings are a time of joy and celebration, they often come at a steep environmental cost, generating large amounts of plastic, food, and decor waste.
Determined to change the narrative, a Karnataka couple hosted a wedding that was as eco-conscious as it was elegant.
Set on a serene farm, their celebration was rooted in sustainability — from using banana leaves instead of disposable plates and opting for reusable steel cutlery, to wearing traditional, repurposed family attire rather than buying new clothes. The couple also eliminated plastic entirely, chose minimal, natural decor, and ensured that leftover food was properly composted or shared.
By thoughtfully integrating age-old customs with mindful modern choices, they showed that a wedding can honour both the planet and tradition.
