Greenhouse Gases

Gases produced from human activities that trap solar radiation and thus contribute to climate change and the destruction of the ozone layer. Some of the gases are involved in trapping solar radiation and others in damaging the ozone layer which reduces the ozone layer’s ability to protect us from solar radiation. Some of these include:

  • CO2 Carbon Dioxide
  • CH4 Methane
  • HFCs Hydrofluorocarbons (a class of several gases)
  • N2O Nitrogen Dioxide
  • PFCs Perfluorocarbons (a class of several gases)
  • SF6 Sulphur Hexafluoride
