In the ocean lies the secret to life on Earth. The ocean is home to microscopic marine algae. Most of these float on the upper part of the ocean. They fix atmospheric carbon and also produce nearly half the planet's daily oxygen requirement. However, with global warming, these algae will be driven deeper into the ocean limiting their ability to produce oxygen.
